On the occasion of the 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, a grand Jay Bhim Padyatra was organized on 13th April 2025 by the Government of Maharashtra, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Mumbai University. The event was held to honor the life, values, and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar — a pioneer of social justice, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, and a champion of equality and human rights.

The Padyatra commenced from Nariman Point, one of Mumbai’s most iconic locations, and concluded at the Statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar near Oval Maidan, Churchgate. The march spanned approximately 2 kilometers, symbolizing unity, equality, and a collective pledge to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, and fraternity advocated by Dr. Ambedkar.

Some of NSS volunteers from VMDC colleges under Mumbai University actively participated in the march, holding banners, placards, and chanting slogans such as “Jay Bhim”, “Long Live the Constitution”, and “Education, Equality, Empowerment.” The volunteers also wore NSS T-Shirt.

Dignitaries from the Maharashtra Government, university officials, NSS Program Officers, and Volunteers were present to support and address the gathering. The event concluded with a floral tribute at the statue of Dr. Ambedkar, followed by a short speech session highlighting his enduring legacy.

The Jay Bhim Padyatra was not just a march, but a powerful expression of respect, remembrance, and reaffirmation of the democratic ideals enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The NSS volunteers showcased exemplary discipline and dedication throughout the event, contributing to its success and spirit.
