Date : 5th September 2026

The Department of Life Science organized a Biodiversity Conservation Activity at Shirgaon on 5th September 2026, with the participation of 15 students. The activity focused on creating awareness about coastal biodiversity and the importance of conservation. Students collected and identified marine species, shells, and approximately 10 mangrove species, which were preserved for herbarium preparation and academic research. They also observed local flora and fauna and learned about threats such as pollution, habitat destruction, plastic waste, and climate change.

The activity enhanced students’ environmental awareness, observation skills, teamwork, and sense of responsibility towards nature and sustainable conservation practices.
