1. OUR STORY: HISTORY AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on 24th September 1969, during the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, by the then Union Education Minister, Dr. V. K. R. V. Rao.
With the noble aim of developing students' personality and character through voluntary community service, NSS has grown into a vibrant national movement under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Carrying forward this rich legacy of community outreach, equality, and nation-building, the NSS Unit of Vande Mataram College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Dombivli (W) was officially established in the year 2010.
Since its inception, our unit has been actively working with the spirit of social service, discipline, and nation-building. We have successfully organized 15–16 Special Annual Camps at various adopted villages and conducted numerous regular activities like cleanliness drives, tree plantation at Ganesh Ghat Koper, blood donation camps, health awareness, and traffic/crowd management in collaboration with the Vishnu Nagar Police Station.
For us, NSS is not just a scheme—it is a way of life that teaches us that the welfare of an individual ultimately depends on the welfare of society.
